I am the Director of Operations for Common Good Washtenaw, a community-based digital payment system bringing economic democracy to Ann Arbor and surrounding communities. Before joining Common Good, I held postdoctoral fellowships at Princeton University and the University of Michigan, where researched and taught about the challenge of social transformation in the face of a changing climate.
I completed a Ph.D. in the Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology at Arizona State University and an M.S. in Land Resources from the University of Wisconsin—Madison. As an interdisciplinary scholar, my research spans a range of topics, including global food systems, conservation policy, and the politics of markets designed to protect and value the carbon stored in tropical forests. In addition to my academic experience, I have worked as a reporter on sustainable energy and global environmental policy for the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). Other appointments include positions with the CA-based sustainability think tank Redefining Progress, national youth-run organization SustainUS, and international Consultative Process towards an International Mechanism for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. |
